Kyrian Jacquet vs Vilius Gaubas prediction
Kyrian Jacquet makes his first main draw appearance at Wimbledon after qualifying for the tournament at the third attempt. The Frenchman defeated Timofey Skatov in three sets to book his place. The 25-year-old is ranked outside the top 130 in the world, but he does have a Challenger title to his name this season.
He plays Vilius Gaubas. The Lithuanian is another qualifier, having beaten Dusan Lajovic in the final stage. Gaubas defeated the Serb in five sets, while he also beat Great Britain’s Henry Searle in the second qualifying round. His best ATP result of the year was a quarter-final appearance in Santiago during the Golden Swing.
These two actually faced each other in Wimbledon qualifying last year, with Jacquet winning in straight sets. He also defeated Gaubas at a Challenger event in San Marino, so the head-to-head is 2-0 in his favour. Jacquet may have the advantage mentally in this one, but this is a fine opportunity for both players to reach the second-round of a Grand Slam for the first time.
