Kyrian Jacquet ensured Holger Rune’s first tournament back from a long injury lay-off ended in defeat.

The Frenchman comfortably despatched the Dane by a 6-3 6-1 scoreline to set a meeting with Luciano Darderi after the Italian beat sixth seed Casper Ruud 7-6 6-3.

This will be their first meeting and there’s no doubt Darderi will be another level in terms of competitiveness for the French underdog.

Jacquet will be delighted to have bagged just a sixth tour-level win of the year, but given the sheer consistency of Luciano of late, we don’t see it being a lucky number seven here.
