Kyrian Jacquet vs Alexander Bublik prediction
Kyrian Jacquet made it four straight wins including qualifying as he beat fellow qualifier Vilius Gaubas in straight sets. The Frenchman won his first ever match at a Grand Slam after a 6-3 6-4 7-6 (2) victory. He will now play Alexander Bublik in round two.
Bublik was tested in his first-round match but eventually overcame Thanasi Kokkinakis in five sets. He had two set points in the third set tiebreak to take a two sets to one lead, but it was Kokkinakis who went in front. Nevertheless, the Kazakhstani fought back to win 4-6 6-3 6-7 (10) 6-3 6-4. Bublik’s best previous result at Wimbledon was a round-of-16 appearance three years ago.
Jacquet will be delighted to win his first match at a major, but this is a whole different test. Bublik’s superior grass court pedigree, explosive serving and confidence on the surface should allow him to take control.
