Victoria Mboko produced a statement performance to beat reigning champion Madison Keys and reach the last four in Adelaide. 

The Canadian posted a 6-4 4-6 6-2 win over the American to set up a semi-final clash with Kimberly Birrell.

The Aussie underdog has thrilled the home supporters this week and she was at it again here, outlasting Jaqueline Cristian in a 5-7 6-1 7-5 victory that lasted over three hours.

The world number 107 will have her work cut out to continue the fairytale run on home turf with Mboko now established as a major force on a hardcourt in particular. 

This will be their second meeting with the 19-year-old Mboko winning 7-5 6-3 on her way to the WTA 1000 Masters title in Canada last summer. 

Birrell will be the heavy underdog again and despite having the backing of the Aussie crowd, the exertions of her win over Cristian as well as the sheer power and quality of her opponent make this likely to be the end of the road.
