Victoria Mboko has been one of the big emerging names across the sport this year following a hugely impressive showing so far whilst on the WTA tour. She also reached the third round at Roland-Garros and also won her first-round match at Wimbledon, proving her capabilities on multiple surfaces. Back on the hard court here and back in Canada, the 18-year-old has lots of attention focused on her coming into this contest.

Kimberly Birrell is a more experienced player, but her ceiling is significantly lower than Mboko and if the Canadian plays her best tennis, than Birrell will more than likely not be able to counter that. She’ll need to get off to a good start and try to use that momentum to push her through, frustrating Mboko in the process.
