Katrina Scott is currently ranked 557 in the world, and the 21-year-old is making her first appearance on the WTA Tour this season. She competes on the ITF Tour, and her best result of the season saw her make the semi-finals in Orlando towards the end of May. Her most recent tournament was short-lived, as she fell to a defeat in round one of a W35 event in Southaven.

Polina Kudermetova’s sorry run of form continued as she lost in the first-round of the Cincinnati Open. She made a fabulous start against Ella Seidel, but familiar frailties returned as she lost 1-6 6-3 6-2. The Russian has now lost 10 matches in a row and is without a win since the last day of March.

Kudermetova leads the head-to-head 1-0, having comfortably defeated Scott 6-4 6-2 in the first-round of the Dow Tennis Classic last November. Despite her terrible run, the Russian will be a strong favourite here and should finally register her first win in over four months.
