Katie Boulter has endured a really difficult spell of tennis over the past month or so and has been knocked out in three of her last four WTA events without winning a match. This after following up such an impressive first round victory at Wimbledon over Paula Badosa with a hugely underwhelming defeat at the hands of Solana Sierra, who is ranked outside of the top 50.
Marta Kostyuk enters the competition seeded 27th but there may be question marks over her fitness with this being her first match back after being forced to withdraw from the Cincinnati Open ahead of her third round clash with eventual winner Iga Swiatek. Kostyuk is very good on the hard court but it’s hard to gauge how high her performance levels will be.
