Katie Boulter vs Leylah Fernandez prediction
Katie Boulter was expected to compete at the Eastbourne International but instead accepted a wildcard for the Bad Homburg Open. She pulled off one of the biggest results of her career at Queen’s Club as she beat world number two Elena Rybakina in the quarter-finals, but the former British number one then lost in the next round to Donna Vekic. Boulter does have a title to her name this season, following her success in Ostrava.
Leylah Fernandez also began her grass court campaign at Queen’s Club, losing in round one to Boulter despite going up a set and a break. The Canadian then appeared at the Nottingham Open but also lost her opening match to Zeynep Sonmez in straight sets. Fernandez is still searching for her first singles win on the surface this year.
Boulter may hold a slight psychological edge after defeating Fernandez less than a fortnight ago, but the Canadian remains a dogged competitor who cannot be discounted.
