Katie Boulter vs Karolina Muchova prediction

Katie Boulter needed three sets to negotiate her US Open opener, as she beat American wildcard Carol Young Suh Lee. The Brit responded impressively after losing the second set, increasing her aggression and racing through the decider without dropping a game. Boulter won 6-4 3-6 6-0. She has struggled for consistency over the last few months, with early exits at Wimbledon, Washington and Toronto.

Her next opponent is two-time Grand Slam singles finalist Karolina Muchova. The Czech was making her return, having not featured since her Wimbledon final loss to Linda Noskova, and she outclassed Sinja Kraus to win in straight sets. Muchova conceded just the three games on her way to winning 6-3 6-0. 

Muchova won their previous meeting in straight sets this year at the Miami Open. Boulter possesses enough first-strike power to threaten, but Muchova’s variety, movement and ability to disrupt rhythm make this a difficult matchup.
