Katerina Siniakova vs Olga Danilovic prediction
Katerina Siniakova went a set up against Katie Boulter in the first-round of Madrid but her level deserted her as the match wore on and she fell to a 4-6 6-2 6-1 defeat. The 10-time Grand Slam doubles champion entered a Challenger in Catalonia last week, winning her first two matches with ease as the second seed but then losing in straight sets to Rebeka Masarova in the last eight.
Olga Danilovic was full of confidence heading into the Madrid Open, having won the Challenger event in Antalya and reached the final in Rouen just a week later. She swatted aside two-time Grand Slam champion Victoria Azarenka in straight sets but came unstuck in the next round against Ekateriana Alexandrova, losing 6-3 6-4.
Danilovic should still take plenty of encouragement from her clay court season so far and she possesses the game to make a deep run in Rome this week. She leads the head-to-head 1-0, winning in Guangzhou last autumn after Siniakova retired in the third set.
This will be their first match on clay, and we back Danilovic to get the job done in three sets.
Katerina Siniakova vs Olga Danilovic tip: Olga Danilovic to win 2-1
