Katerina Siniakova vs Jessica Pegula prediction

Katerina Siniakova continued her fine run of recent form with a straight sets victory over Iva Jovic in the round-of-16. She broke at the end of the first set to take the lead and then recovered from a 2-0 deficit in the second as she broke Jovic on three occasions to win 7-5 6-3. She is into her first WTA 1000 singles quarter-final since 2019 and now has 10 wins from her last 12 matches, including the qualifying rounds.

She will now play Jessica Pegula, as the American advanced with a three set win over Ekaterina Alexandrova. Alexandrova had won two of their three previous meetings this year, but the American showed fantastic fighting spirit yet again to advance. She was 5-2 down in the first set but fought back to win it and then came from a break down in the decider to come through 7-5 3-6 6-3. Pegula has now reached the last eight or better of her last three tournaments, having made the semi-finals of the US Open and China Open.

She also dominates this head-to-head, leading 4-1 and 2-0 on hard court. Their last match saw Pegula comfortably defeat Siniakova in straight sets at this year’s Bad Homburg Open on her way to the title. This could be a closer match given Siniakova’s impressive run of form, but Pegula is a tough competitor and should still have enough to get through.
