Karolina Pliskova vs Iga Swiatek prediction
Former world number one Karolina Pliskova has been showing her class this year. After an injury-hit 2025, she has surged back up the rankings and a run to the semi-finals of the recent Nottingham Open was an encouraging sign that she could go well at Wimbledon.
Indeed, she recorded a straight-sets win over Tereza Valentova in the first round, and the former SW19 runner-up now has the opportunity to face the current world number three and the reigning Wimbledon champion.
Iga Swiatek, though, wasn't entirely convincing in her own opener, requiring three sets to defeat Taylor Townsend, although when she did find her groove, she looked her usual imposing self.
Pliskova will be another test for the defending champion, and she is unlikely to have it all her own way against an opponent who is playing with confidence right now.
Swiatek has to be seen as the favourite, but Pliskova has the potential to make it interesting so we don't see this being too one-sided.
