Karolina Muchova vs Irina-Camelia Begu prediction
Karolina Muchova competed at the German Open last week, her first grass court event of the season. She won her first match against Shuai Zhang in straight sets, but then fell to a defeat against Madison Keys. Her highlight of the season was winning a WTA 1000 title in Doha, and she has 25 wins from 33 matches this season. The two-time Wimbledon quarter-finalist will hope to generate more momentum ahead of the third slam of the year next week.
She faces Irina-Camelia Begu in her opening match. Begu defeated veteran Venus Williams in three sets to advance. It looked like it was going to be a straight-forward win for the Romanian as she was a set and 3-1 up, but the seven-time Grand Slam singles champion forced a decider and served for the match at 5-3 in the third. Begu broke back and eventually sealed a 6-2 4-6 7-6 (6) victory.
The fourth seed will be seen as a firm favourite to make it through to the next round.
