Karen Khachanov is through to the next round at Wimbledon after a four set win over Billy Harris. The Russian was not at his best, but he won 6-3 5-7 6-3 6-3. Khachanov’s only other result on grass this season was a surprise opening round defeat to Ethan Quinn at the Halle Open, despite taking the first set.
He will play Yannick Hanfmann next. The German progressed after coming from a set and a break down to beat Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard in round one. Hanfmann was in trouble as the big serving Mpetshi Perricard broke to go 4-3 up in the second after taking the first set, but he responded by breaking his opponent in the very next service game. He then saved three set points in the tiebreak as he levelled the match. Hanfmann would go on to win 6-7 (6) 7-6 (9) 6-2 6-3.
Khachanov’s performances have not been entirely convincing for quite some time now, and Hanfmann could make things difficult.
