Karen Khachanov vs Tallon Griekspoor prediction
Karen Khachanov’s worrying form continued in Almaty last week as he was defeated in the second-round by Jan-Lennard Struff after receiving a bye. That makes it four defeats in a row for the Russian, who has not won a match on tour since the first-round of the US Open. Khachanov performed superbly during the summer as he got through to the quarter-finals or better of four tournaments in a row, which included his first Masters final since 2018 in Toronto, and he will hope to recapture that level before the season is finished.
He plays Tallon Griekspoor in the first-round. The Dutchman also failed to get his indoor season off to a strong start as he was beaten by Jacob Fearnley in the first-round of the Stockholm Open. Griekspoor rediscovered a bit of his form in Shanghai as he made the round-of-16, but his results have been largely very poor since he won the Mallorca Championships on the eve of Wimbledon in June.
Griekspoor leads the head-to-head after a win over Khachanov in 2019 at the Rotterdam Open. Neither player is in the best of form and there’s a strong possibility they cancel each other out over three sets.
