Karen Khachanov vs Nishesh Basavareddy prediction
Karen Khachanov has enjoyed a strong couple of months on the ATP Tour. He kept up the momentum from his strong showing at Wimbledon, where he made the quarter-finals, by advancing to his second Masters final in Toronto after defeating top seed and world number three Alexander Zverev in the semi-finals. The Russian would lose to Ben Shelton. He ran out of steam in round four of Cincinnati, retiring in the second set against Zverev. Khachanov has performed well in New York before, making the semi-finals in 2022.
Nishesh Basavareddy picked up his first Masters main draw victory in Cincinnati and was also able to qualify for his next tournament in Winston-Salem. The 20-year-old has broken into the top 100 of the world rankings and seems to be getting to grips with the pro tour.
Khachanov will look to dominate early with heavy groundstrokes and aim to unsettle Basavareddy’s rhythm from the start. Given his experience and firepower, he should be able to dictate the tempo and safely book his place in the next round.
