Karen Khachanov vs Jenson Brooksby prediction

Karen Khachanov eased past qualifier Valentin Roger to avoid any hangover from his run to the final in Toronto.

The Russian upped the ante at the key moments as he defeated the Frenchman 6-4 7-6.

The 14th seed will now lock horns with wildcard Jenson Brooksby after the American swept aside lucky loser Arthur Cazaux 7-5 6-1.

This will be only a second meeting between Khachanov and Brooksby with the latter prevailing in their maiden encounter by a 6-0 6-3 scoreline in Indian Wells three years ago.  

Khachanov will have revenge in mind and is in strong form, but Brooksby’s unorthodox style may well interrupt the Russian’s patterns and it could be a long, old tussle to decide the winner.
