Karen Khachanov returns to the event which provided him with the biggest success of his career so far, as he won his only Masters title in Paris seven years ago, defeating Novak Djokovic in the final. However, the Russian comes into this one in really poor form and hasn’t won a match since the first-round of the US Open. He last competed in Vienna but lost in three sets after a tight battle with Tallon Griekspoor.

He goes up against American qualifier Ethan Quinn here. Quinn qualified for this tournament after failing to do so in Stockholm and Vienna. His best result was his run to the third-round of Roland Garros in May, but Quinn hasn’t got past round two of an ATP tournament this season.

Khachanov has been on a poor run, but his losing streak has to end somewhere, and he really should have enough quality to defeat Quinn in the first-round.
