Kamilla Rakhimova vs Peyton Stearns prediction

Kamilla Rakhimova came out on top in a topsy-turvy encounter with Elisabetta Cociaretto in the first-round of Eastbourne. There were nine breaks of serve overall but the Russian managed to come out on top, beating Cociaretto 6-4 4-6 6-3. 

She will face Peyton Stearns in the next round after the American marked her return to the tour with a first win on grass this season. She held off the challenge of 17-year-old Mingge Xu, winning 6-3 6-4. Xu raced into a 3-0 lead in the second set, but Stearns recovered brilliantly to win six of the next seven service games and wrap up the win.

This will be their first match on grass but they’ve competed against each other once before. Stearns defeated Rakhimova in three sets in the semi-final of Copa Colsanitas in April 2023. The American has more consistency to her game and is likely to create opportunities on the Rakhimova serve. She is also ranked over 50 places above her opponent and will be the favourite to get through.
