Kamilla Rakhimova vs Leylah Fernandez prediction

Kamilla Rakhimova picked up a win in the first-round of the China Open after beating Marina Bassols Ribera in straight sets. She was broken when serving for the match at 5-4 but maintained her composure in the tiebreak to win 6-4 7-6 (2). Rakhimova advanced to the third-round of the US Open last month, losing to four-time Grand Slam champion Aryna Sabalenka.

She now takes on Leylah Fernandez, with the Canadian receiving a bye in round one. Fernandez claimed her first title of the season at the Singapore Open, defeating Roland Garros finalists Mirra Andreeva and Maja Chwalinska before overcoming Talia Gibson in the final. The 24-year-old only dropped the one set across the tournament. 

It had been a difficult season for Fernandez up to that point, but she is back in form and will hope to build on that momentum with a convincing victory over Rakhimova in her opening match.
