Justin Engel’s astonishing Stuttgart run takes him into the quarter-finals and a showdown with fourth seed Felix Auger-Aliassime.

The German teenager - ranked at 281 in the world - has still won only a handful of main-tour matches but delighted the home support by defeating Alex Michelsen 6-4 6-4 last time out.

The 17-year-old won a whopping 100% of points on his first serve as he again rose to the occasion against a much more experienced opponent. 

It will serve as a warning for Auger-Aliassime who won 6-4 6-4 against Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard. 

The Canadian is a two-time finalist here and will be a strong favourite in a first ever meeting with the teenager. 

With both expectation and the spotlight enhancing for Engel this may be one step too far this week, but given the odds in favour of FAA it may be worth considering a tie-break or the youngster nicking a set.
