World number six Amanda Anisimova was extremely impressive in the first round as the American hammered wildcard entrant Tiantsoa Rakotomanga Rajaonah 6-3, 6-1. Anisimova reached the semi-finals of the French Open back in 2019 but has hit her best form within the last 12 months, having reached the finals of both Wimbledon and the US Open before achieving her best of the quarter-finals at the Australian Open.
