Juan Manuel Cerundolo advanced to the next round at the Winston-Salem Open after a straight sets win over Dhakshineswar Suresh. The Indian player had caused an upset in the previous round as he defeated Marcos Giron, and he took Cerundolo to a tiebreak in the first set. The Argentine saved two set points as he came through to win 7-6 (6) 6-3. He did not face a break point across the match and won 85% of his first serve points. Cerundolo advanced to the third-round of the Cincinnati Open at his last tournament.

He takes on fellow countryman Sebastian Baez in the next round. Baez beat Hugo Grenier in straight sets. Grenier was very competitive throughout, but Baez edged clear to win 7-5 7-6 (2). This will be their first ATP meeting.

This should be a competitive match between the pair, but Cerundolo’s consistent and solid game may just give him the edge over three sets.
