Juan Manuel Cerundolo vs Ignacio Buse prediction
Juan Manuel Cerundolo is into the quarter-finals of the Winston-Salem Open after his opponent Sebastian Baez retired in the second set of their round-of-16 match. Cerundolo was leading 6-2 4-0 when Baez, who won the event in 2023, decided that he could not continue. The Argentine is now through to his fourth quarter-final on the ATP Tour in 2026.
He faces Ignacio Buse next, as the Peruvian defeated Daniel Altmaier in two close sets. Buse edged clear in the first after winning the tiebreak, but Altmaier opened up a 5-2 lead in the second and looked set to level the encounter. However, Buse showed all of his fighting qualities as he emphatically reeled off the final five games to clinch a 7-6 (5) 7-5 victory after two hours and 15 minutes.
Cerundolo has won their two previous meetings, but this will be their first match against each other on a hard court. This should be a competitive encounter between two dogged and tenacious players who are unlikely to give much away.
