World number 85 Juan Manuel Cerundolo comes into this one on the back of a 6-4, 6-4 loss to Vit Kopriva in the quarter-final of the Rio Open last week. Cerundolo has been putting in reasonable performances throughout 2026 but the 24-year-old is still adrift of his career best position of 71st in the world from September.
Cristian Garin comes into this having succumbed to a straight sets loss to Thiago Agustin Tirante in the first round of that Rio Open last week. The Chilean began the year poorly with first qualifying round losses in both Hong Kong and Adelaide. He has now not won since winning the ATP Challenger Montevideo in mid-November.
Garin is struggling for form at the moment and this is a tough test as Cerundolo continues to rediscover his best early on his career.
