Juan Manuel Cerundolo vs Carlos Alcaraz prediction

Juan Manuel Cerundolo advanced to the next round in Shanghai after a straight sets win over Nicolas Mejia. The Argentine went an early break down in the match but quickly recovered to win 6-4 6-4 after one hour and 22 minutes. Cerundolo broke Mejia’s serve on four separate occasions and won 84% of his own points on first serve. 

He will now face world number three Carlos Alcaraz. The 23-year-old recently claimed his first title since February by successfully defending his Japan Open crown. The Spaniard was not at his best across the event, but he produced his most measured display in the final to defeat Jiri Lehecka in straight sets. Alcaraz is now hoping to win this Masters 1000 event for the first time in his career, having never advanced beyond the quarter-finals before.

Alcaraz’s serve remains a concern, but the rest of his game appears to be returning to its usual level following his absence with a wrist injury.
