Jordan Thompson vs Jaume Munar prediction

Despite being a two-time finalist of the event, Jordan Thompson could only reach the second-round of the Libema Open this year as he lost to eventual champion Gabriel Diallo in straight sets. Despite that disappointment, the Australian seems to have overcome the injury issues that plagued much of his clay court season. He also returns to Queen’s having made a fine run to the semi-finals last year.

He goes up against Jaume Munar in the first-round of this year’s edition. The Spaniard begins his grass court season at this event. His last match was a dramatic one, as he squandering going up a break in the fifth set to Arthur Fils, losing to the Frenchman despite coming back from two sets to love down to draw level.

This will be their first match on grass but the head-to-head is 1-1, with Munar winning their first meeting at Roland Garros four years ago but Thompson coming out on top last year in Barcelona. The Australian is the more effective player on grass and is likely to utilise his strong serve and backhand slice to good effect. He had a brilliant run here last year and Thompson will fancy his chances again.
