Jordan Thompson vs Grigor Dimitrov Prediction

Jordan Thompson is enjoying an excellent week in Brisbane so far and he will be hoping there is more to come. He has beaten Matteo Berrettini in three sets and then overcame Alex Michelsen in straight sets on Wednesday.

The eighth seed now takes on Grigor Dimitrov who is the second seed; behind only Novak Djokovic this week. He has looked strong as he has beaten Yannick Hanfmann and then Aleksandar Vukic in straight sets.

Dimitrov’s first serve was very impressive on Wednesday in the round of 16 as he won 94% on his first serve and did not concede a single break point. On the other hand, he created ten break point opportunities himself and his all-round game is looking very strong right now.

Thompson is super motivated playing at home but this may not be a good match-up for him. Dimitrov is better than Thompson in many of the Australia’s strong areas and it is hard to see how he gets the win here. Thompson has beaten him once back in 2019 but Dimitrov has won the last two including in the semi-finals in this tournament last year. We expect Dimitrov to do the same once again here.
