Jodie Burrage has already begun her grass court season as she competed in the Birmingham Classic but could only make the second-round as she lost to Linda Fruhvirtova. The Brit is on a three-match losing streak after early exits at Roland Garros and Strasbourg qualifying.
She will have her work cut out in the first-round as she takes on Amanda Anisimova in round one at Queen’s Club. The American is coming off the back of an encouraging French Open as she made the fourth-round, where she lost in two close sets to eventual finalist and world number one Aryna Sabalenka. Anisimova also has a title to her name this season, having won the Qatar Open in the middle of February.
Burrage will have home support behind her and could trouble Anisimova in the early exchanges. Nevertheless, we expect the 23-year-old, who hasn’t competed in the main draw at Wimbledon since reaching the quarter-finals in 2022, to advance comfortably.
