Joao Fonseca vs Luca Van Assche Prediction

What a week it has been for Joao Fonseca as he won all three matches in the group stage and helped eliminate Arthur Fils and Jakub Mensik. His win over Mensik on Friday in the final group match was highly impressive. He had already qualified for the semis but he continued to play hard and won in five sets. Every single set went to a tiebreak and Fonseca was clutch when it mattered the most and eventually won the match.

He now meets Luca Van Assche who had a winner-takes-all encounter with Nishesh Basavareddy on Friday and won it in four sets. The Frenchman has looked good this week with his only loss coming to Alex Michelsen. The win over Basavareddy will help tune him up for knockout tennis and after reaching the semis last year, he will be keen to go at least one better this time around.

Fonseca has been superb this week but we just fear that the major energy he put in on Friday may just work against him. Van Assche will mix with him and really test him here and with him being the underdog, we like the value on Van Assche to edge this one.
