Joao Fonseca vs Flavio Cobolli prediction

Joao Fonseca continued his breakout season with a strong run to the third-round of Roland Garros. He defeated Hubert Hurkacz in the first-round with a scintillating performance but ran out of steam against Jack Draper in round three. It’s still been such a fine year for the 18-year-old so far, having also picked up a maiden title in Buenos Aires.

Flavio Cobolli also begins his grass court season in Halle. The Italian recently won his second title of the season in Hamburg and was on a seven-match winning streak as he navigated his way through to the third-round of Roland Garros for the first time in his career. He would lose to Alexander Zverev comprehensively but Cobolli seemed to have come of age during the clay season, with two titles under his belt and he’s now at his highest ever ranking of 24.

Though both players are in good form, neither are particularly experienced on grass and were knocked out in the first-round of this competition last year. Fonseca has room to grow on the surface and his aggressive play from the baseline and powerful forehand are likely to benefit him as he becomes more comfortable on the grass. We think he may just edge this.
