Joao Fonseca was not able to compete in any warmup events as a result of a back injury, but says he is improving every day as he nears the start of his 2026 season. His first year on tour resulted in two titles, with the Brazilian now inside the top 30 of the world rankings.
He takes on Eliot Spizzirri in the first-round. The American lost in the first stage of qualifying for the Brisbane International but fared a lot better in Auckland with four wins in a row to make the quarter-finals, where he lost to Fabian Marozsan.
