Jessica Pegula vs Rebecca Sramkova prediction
Jessica Pegula is back in action straight away after winning the fourth WTA 1000 title of her career in Dubai at the end of last week. Pegula comfortably defeated Elina Svitolina in the final. The world number five has been in fantastic form for quite some time now, having got through to the semi-finals or better of every tournament she’s competed in since the US Open last year. Pegula has won 13 out of 15 matches this season.
Pegula is also the defending champion in Austin and will be seen as the overwhelming favourite for the title. She faces Rebecca Sramkova in the first-round. Sramkova is yet to make it past the second-round of any tournament this season and lost in round one of Dubai last week.
Pegula is enjoying one of the best spells of her career right now in terms of consistent results on the tour, and she will be expected to wrap this one up in straight sets.
