Jessica Pegula continued her serene progress at the Australian Open as she defeated Oksana Selekhmeteva in straight sets. The American was not broken on serve and controlled the whole match to win 6-4 6-4 after an hour and six minutes. Pegula has not dropped a set in her three matches so far. 

She will face Madison Keys next. The defending champion beat former world number one Karolina Pliskova in straight sets to advance. Keys broke twice at the start of the match and never really looked back, winning 6-3 6-3 after one hour and 15 minutes.

Keys leads the head-to-head 2-1 and has won the last two meetings between the pair. Pegula’s consistency and ability to keep her unforced errors down may give her the edge here. Keys has experienced dips in form at the start of the tournament, but she cannot afford those when going up against the world number six.
