Jessica Pegula vs Amanda Anisimova prediction

Jessica Pegula continued her strong progress in Melbourne as she defeated defending champion Madison Keys in straight sets to advance to her second quarter-final at the Australian Open. Pegula raced into an early 3-0 lead and went on to take the first set. She made another fast start at the start of the second and maintained her level to seal a 6-3 6-4 win. From her four matches, Pegula has dropped just 17 games.

She faces Amanda Anisimova next. The world number four got past Wang Xinyu in straight sets to set up a meeting with Pegula. Anisimova gave up just one break point and won 77% of her first serve points as she won 7-6 (4) 6-4. She had opportunities to make the match more comfortable but only converted two out of 10 break points.

Pegula leads the head-to-head 3-0 but they have not faced each other since 2024, and Anisimova has improved immeasurably as a player since then. Neither player has dropped a set at the tournament so far. Pegula is very consistent and will look to extend the rallies, but she could be vulnerable against the serve and aggression of Anisimova.
