Jessica Bouzas Maneiro advanced to the second-round of Indian Wells after a three set win over Beatriz Haddad Maia. She dominated the first set but Haddad Maia forced a decider after winning the second on a tiebreak. The Spaniard responded brilliantly as she dominated the third to win 6-1 6-7 (5) 6-1 after two hours and 15 minutes. Bouzas Maneiro has struggled at the start of this season in terms of results, but that was a step in the right direction.
She takes on Linda Noskova in the second-round, as the Czech received a bye. Noskova has not enjoyed the best of starts to this campaign, having failed to make the quarter-final of an event so far in 2026. Her best result was a third-round appearance at the Australian Open, but she was then on the end of a surprising defeat to Xinyu Wang.
Nevertheless, Noskova is still a strong player on this surface and Bouzas Maneiro could be on the backfoot here from the start.
