Jessica Bouzas Maneiro continued her strong run of form in Cincinnati as she made the fourth-round. The Spaniard defeated Venus Williams, Leylah Fernandez and Taylor Townsend without the drop of a set and showed great fight against world number one Aryna Sabalenka despite losing in straight sets. This follows a quarter-final finish in Montreal just a week earlier and she hasn now got through to the last eight of a tournament on four occasions so far this year.
Kamilla Rakhimova qualified for Cincinnati but lost in the first-round to Maria Sakkari in three sets. The 23-year-old does not have the strongest of records on hard courts in 2025, having lost 12 of the 20 games she has played so far this year. Rakhimova’s best run of form of the season came during the grass court season, as she reached the quarter-finals of Eastbourne and followed that up with a third-round finish at Wimbledon.
The only question is whether the number of matches in a short space of time have taken its toll on Bouzas Maneiro. She’s becoming a real threat on the tour and is a big favourite to win against Rakhimova.
