Jesper de Jong vs Alexander Zverev prediction

Jesper de Jong continued his best ever run at a Grand Slam as he defeated Karen Khachanov in five sets. The Dutchman, who only entered this event as a lucky loser, looked on course to seal the match in the fourth as he went 5-2 up, but he squandered two match points with Khachanov fighting back and winning the tiebreak to force a decider. De Jong regrouped brilliantly to win 7-5 5-7 6-2 6-7 (2) 6-2.

He now faces world number two Alexander Zverev in the next round. Zverev is the highest seed remaining in the draw after Jannik Sinner’s shock defeat, and he kept alive his hopes of a maiden slam triumph as he beat Quentin Halys in four sets. Zverev eased through the first two sets and went a break up in the third, but Halys fought back and prolonged the encounter. However, the three-time Grand Slam finalist raced clear in the fourth to win 6-4 6-3 5-7 6-2.

Zverev will be expected to come through with a comfortable win over De Jong.
