Jenson Brooksby struggled in the early part of the grass court season as he lost in the second-round of the Ilkley Challenger to Oliver Crawford and was then was thrashed by Jack Draper at Queen’s Club in the first-round. The American’s campaign on the surface went from bad to worse with a qualifying defeat to Aleksander Vukic in Eastbourne. However, Brooksby qualified for the event as a lucky loser and then reeled off four straight wins to reach his second final of the season. He would lose to Taylor Fritz but Brooksby has some momentum to take with him into Wimbledon.
Unfortunately for Brooksby, so does Tallon Griekspoor as he won the second grass court title of his career in Mallorca. The Dutchman was always in control, not dropping a set and defeating the temperamental Corentin Moutet in the final.
Brooksby is heading into some form and is capable of putting pressure on Griekspoor at different points of the match, but the world number 34 should still make it through to the second-round for a third time.
