Jenson Brooksby got his season off to a winning start after a victory over wildcard James Watt. The American was not broken on serve and created 13 break point opportunities for himself in total as he won 6-4 6-3 after an hour and 26 minutes.

He goes up against Sebastian Baez in the round-of-16. The Argentine continued his unbeaten start to the year as he came from a set down to beat Emilio Nava. Baez was broken when serving to stay in the first set but fought back with a late break in the second to square the match. Baez won the last four service games to win 4-6 7-5 6-3. He won all three of his matches at the United Cup for Argentina last week.

Brooksby is a threat but it’s hard to look past Baez, who has clearly picked up form after a tough second half of 2025. He’s got momentum on his side, and will look to create problems for the American.
