Jenson Brooksby begins his season at the Auckland Open. Last season was incredibly productive for Brooksby as he ended 2025 inside the top 50 of the world rankings, having been as low as 544 in the middle of March. He won the Houston Open and also made the final of Eastbourne. The 25-year-old will hope to move further up the rankings this season.
He will face James Watt in the first-round here. Watt is ranked 705 in the world and is handed a wildcard as he makes his ATP main draw debut. He competed at the Noumea Challenger last week, getting through the qualifying stages and winning his first-round match against Leo Vithootien. He then faced Bernard Tomic and was forced to retire at 4-1 down in the deciding set.
There is a huge ranking disparity here and Brooksby will be expected to get his campaign off to a winning start with a convincing victory.
