Jenson Brooksby decided to begin his grass court season by dropping down to compete on the Challenger Tour in Ilkley. He could only reach the second-round as he lost to Great Britain’s Oliver Crawford in straight sets. That was his first tournament on grass since 2022, when he made the third-round at Wimbledon.
Jack Draper ended an encouraging clay season on a slightly underwhelming note as he lost in the fourth-round of Roland Garros to unseeded Alexander Bublik in four sets. There were still plenty of positives to take for the Brit, having made his best ever run in Paris and reached his first ever clay court final in Madrid.
He is now the world number four and begins his grass court season amid increasing fanfare and attention, given his rise in prominence over the last nine months or so. He has won all three meetings with Brooksby without the drop of a set, including a victory as a wildcard in Eastbourne three years ago. Draper is good value to win comfortably once more here.
