Frances Tiafoe will need to overcome his Jenson Brooksby hoodoo to progress at Indian Wells.

The 21st seed has lost all three of his previous meetings with his compatriot in straight sets, including a 6-4 6-2 defeat in the final in Houston last year.

Big Foe is showing signs of a revival in 2026 after tumbling outside the top 20 and was a runner-up in Acapulco last week.

However, Brooksby is also on an upward trajectory and followed up his quarter-final run in Dubai with a dominant 6-3 6-4 win over Alexei Popyrin in the first round here.

Tiafoe will be desperate to earn the bragging rights and bring his A-game to the courts on home soil, but Jenson’s unorthodox style clearly unsettles him and it’s worth the punt on the mini upset given their history.
