Ben Shelton begins his title defence with a potentially tricky opener against fellow-American Jenson Brooksby.
The 2025 champion suffered a surprise loss to Alejandro Tabilo on the back of a disappointing Wimbledon, so the fifth seed will be determined to put on a strong show here.
Brooksby will relish the chance to try and take out last year’s winner and is moving back in the right direction in the rankings again.
The world number 74 eased to a 6-3 6-4 victory over qualifier Adam Walton but will need to be particularly awkward and dogged to upset Shelton. The 25-year-old is more than capable of that, but it’s more likely to snare him a set rather than the upset.
