However, his run in Shanghai was more short-lived as he lost in round two to Tallon Griekspoor. Brooksby has enjoyed a fine season, having won a title in Houston and improved his ranking to 56 after being outside the top 500 in April.
His opponent in the first-round is Alexandre Muller. The Frenchman is without a victory in his last three matches. He began his indoor season in Stockholm but lost in the first-round to Miomir Kecmanovic in straight sets. Muller’s highlight of the season was his title in Hong Kong, but that was right at the start of the year.
Brooksby defeated Muller in their first match against each other earlier this season, in the first-round of Cincinnati. He’s been the stronger player in recent times, and the American will be confident of another win here.
