Jelena Ostapenko vs Magda Linette prediction

2017 French Open winner Jelena Ostapenko has not made it past the third round at Roland Garros outside of that surprise triumph. The Latvian has enjoyed an improved 2026, including a quarter-final appearance at the Italian Open earlier this month, and she comfortably defeated Ella Seidel in straight sets the other day.

Magda Linette, on the other hand, came through an extremely hard-fought opening round clash against Tereza Valentova, winning 7-5, 4-6, 7-6 with a 20-point tiebreak in the deciding set. Linette has now enjoyed back-to-back victories since reaching the third round at the Miami Open back in mid-March.

Linette’s gruelling opening round encounter may well play into the hands of Ostapenko, who looks in good shape to potentially go further than the third round this time.
