Jaume Munar picked up two wins in Rotterdam to advance to the quarter-finals for the first time at the event. He pushed Alexander Bublik all the way, but he was defeated in the deciding set tiebreak. The Spaniard has reached the last eight of two events so far in 2026.
Karen Khachanov also competed at the event, but his progress was halted by Munar in the round-of-16. The Russian could only reach the third-round of the Australian Open as he was defeated by Luciano Darderi. Khachanov’s form during the summer of 2025 was very strong, which saw him return to the top 10 briefly, but his results have dipped since then and he has not reached the quarter-final of a tournament since his final appearance at the Canadian Open in August.
