Jaume Munar vs Francisco Cerundolo prediction

Jaume Munar lined up at the Eastbourne Open, but his campaign was short-lived as he lost to Zizou Bergs, with the Belgian going on to win the event. He was also defeated by Martin Damm at the Libema Open, and the Spaniard is winless in his last four matches overall. His season has failed to reignite after missing two months due to an arm injury. He did reach the third-round at SW19 last year.

Francisco Cerundolo is his first-round opponent. The Argentine heads into this tournament on the back of one of his best ever achievements, as he won the Queen’s Club title. Cerundolo came from a set down to beat Tommy Paul in the longest final every played in the tournament’s history. That was his second event win of the season after Buenos Aires. He will now be hoping to improve upon his dreadful record at the All England Club, having won just one match out of five.

He leads the head-to-head 3-2, but this will be their first meeting on grass. Munar can be a difficult player to grind down over a five set match, while the fresh grass at Wimbledon is likely to play quite differently from the conditions that suited Cerundolo so well at Queen’s. This could be a far closer match than form suggests.
