Jaume Munar vs Francisco Cerundolo prediction

Jaume Munar overcame a slow start to power past Daniel Altmaier in the first-round of the Adelaide International. Altmaier broke at the start of the match to establish a 3-0 lead, but Munar won the next 12 service games in a row to win 6-3 6-0 after just an hour and four minutes. Munar lost a close match with Taylor Fritz in the United Cup last week and is steadily progressing in the right direction ahead of the Australian Open.

He faces Francisco Cerundolo, who was handed a bye in round one. He makes his first appearance of the season in Adelaide. Cerundolo fell away in the second half of last season but produced some brilliant results in the spring, as he made the quarter-finals of both Sunshine Double events, along with a semi-final in Madrid. He did not win a title but made the final of his home tournament during the South American clay court swing.

Cerundolo leads the ATP head-to-head 3-1 and 1-0 on hard court. Their last match was at the Canadian Open last July, with Cerundolo winning a tight match in three sets. Munar may have the advantage here, with matches under his belt already.
