Jaume Munar vs Daniil Medvedev prediction
Jaume Munar continued his impressive season as he advanced to the semi-finals of the Swiss Indoors in Basel at his most recent event. However, he would lose to Joao Fonseca in two tight sets. Nevertheless, this followed an encouraging run in Shanghai as he got through to the round-of-16. The Spaniard has made four semi-finals in total during this campaign.
He goes up against former world number one Daniil Medvedev, who made the final here in 2021. Medvedev finally picked up his first title since May 2023 in Almaty, defeating Corentin Moutet. That capped off a strong run for the Russian, as he returned to form with two other semi-final appearances in Beijing and Shanghai. The number of matches seemed to have caught up with him in Vienna as he lost to Moutet in the second-round.
Despite Medvedev’s recent upturn in form, Munar is also performing well and will look to extent the rallies at any given opportunity. This is likely to be a slugfest between two grinding competitors and has the makings of a three setter.
